When I visited Venice Beach for the first time, during my exchange semester at California State University Channel Islands, I was overblown by all the impressions. Ever since this first visit I wanted to go back there, to take some time to portrait the skaters in the skate bowl at the beach. So when I finally made it to Venice again two weeks ago I spent some hours capturing the skaters. I've always been interested in the skate culture because so many of my friends skated and to be with them, meant spending a lot of time at the local bowls. A while ago I discovered this video about the finnish skate icon Arto Saari, who is taking amazing skate pictures. I love his photographic attitude: "You have to leave a little bit of room for that natural moment to occur - and you just gotta be right there in the right time to press the button and hopefully nail the moment."
